About
CYun was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea during a time of strong monoethnic consciousness, She later moved to the United States and became a U.S. citizen, where she witnessed many cultural exchanges. Now that she's back in Korea, she feels that there is a free exchange of diverse cultural sentiments and content in Korea, and she expresses this new atmosphere through TOBBA. Through her experiences in both Korea and the US, she has met a variety of people and been exposed to
their unique cultures, races, and religions, and has been inspired by the motif of diversity in her daily life.
CYun currently works as an artist, exhibition organizer, and gallery owner. Having lived and worked in various areas, the artist became deeply interested in diversity and created 'TOBBA' through her numerous experiences. CYun has a rich relationship with artists, as well as with the legal and medical communities, and through her work, she acknowledges that the world is made up of such diverse people.
Artist's Note
TOBBA tells a story of diverse identities coexisting harmoniously and exchanging positive energy through the special character
in mobile phone we use every day. The symbols on TOBBA's face are a common language for people around the world to communicate their feelings on their phones, and Tobba represents a wide range of emotions. Through TOBBA, the artist imagines a ‘TOBBA world’ where everyone is a valued member, no matter how big or small their role, and where TOBBA brings happiness, hope, and healing
